Finding the Right SEO Company
There are many different things that should be avoided when finding the right SEO Company to work with. The best thing to do is to do a background check on that particular company. Reading reviews and asking questions is a good place to start, however once you think you have found the perfect SEO expert to work with, it is important to look at some other factors. Here are a few ways you can spot a bad SEO expert. This should save you time and money in the long run.
1. No website.
No company website is the biggest alert there is. If a SEO company is making claims that they have helped many business, or that they are the best at what they do, and they do not have a website, it may all be a lie. With no website, there is no way to prove or disprove any of their claims, which leads to number two;
2. They talk about the success and number of clients they have helped in the past, but they keep their client names confidential.
This should be a red flag. Because you cannot prove that the clients exist at all, it may not be the wisest decision to trust this SEO “expert.” They may not even have a list at all. Even if they do have a list, it could mean that the clients they’ve had aren’t even worth mentioning.
3. They want an unusually high fee upfront.
It does not matter how much experience the expert has, wanting a large fee upfront generally means that they are more concerned with the money than the actual client. It is simply bad business. More importantly, if the client happens to disappear on you, you will be out a large sum of money.
4. The expert suggests that you buy back links.
Some SEO experts will suggest the use of back links to get past the spam filters in Google. These SEO experts make a living buying and selling back links, but it will not last for too much longer. Due to a change in Google’s search algorithm, sites with excessive back links will be penalized and even blacklisted.
5. They guarantee a high ranking in the search engines.
It is easy to make promises, but harder to achieve them. When you hire an SEO expert, their goal should be doing the right things to make your site rank higher, but they cannot guarantee that your page will land on the number one spot. The right tools needed to increase your page ranking have frequent, quality updates and quality link building, and not black hat SEO tactics that will eventually get your site penalized. You must keep in mind that no one can 100% guarantee first page rankings since it is only up to the search engine.
When choosing the right SEO company, look for knowledge and experience over empty promises. Ask to see examples of their work and speak to their previous and existing clients. There are many SEO professionals that will make big promises, or ask for upfront payment, when they are looking to make some quick cash. They may not help your site in the slightest. Their underhanded tactics may get your website permanently blacklisted from all search engines, so it is imperative that you find the right SEO expert that will help you with your needs.
